Continuing Dian Fossey’s legacy of protecting the gorillas

Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund – Dian Fossey was an American zoologist and conservationist best known for her extensive study of mountain gorillas in Rwanda, spending 18 years studying and protecting the gorillas, and her work was instrumental in increasing understanding of the species and raising awareness of their conservation needs.

Dian fought poachers and encroachment by herds of cattle through some unorthodox methods, referring to her tactics as “active conservation” and convinced that without immediate and decisive action, other long-term conservation goals would be useless as there would eventually be nothing left to save.
