Protecting, restoring and enhancing wetland habitats

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service – Wetlands exist in every corner of our planet and are often referred to as the arteries and veins of the Earth. Wetlands act as water sources and purifiers, protect our shores, and are the planet’s greatest natural carbon stores. Wherever land meets water, life abounds.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly, World Wetlands Day is celebrated on February 2nd each year to raise awareness and increase people’s understanding of the critical importance of wetlands. However, as conservation and restoration are critical to wetlands now more than ever, it is important that everyone be a part of the solution.
