2025 Earth Day

DFW Airport Earth Month 2025

April 1-30, 2025

2025 Activity Lesson – Elementary/Middle/High School (4-12)

Design a Wind Turbine

DFW Connection: DFW Airport powers its terminals with 100% wind energy.

Wind power is one of the fastest-growing energy sources in the world and this project teaches engineering and modeling to demonstrate concepts such as energy transformation and blade efficiencies. Get ready to be blown away!

Learn about:

  • How wind turbines convert wind into electrical energy.
  • Measure the electrical current a miniature wind turbine produces.

Kit will include:

  • Materials to build a miniature wind turbine that can generate electricity, exploring how design and position of the turbine affects the electrical energy produced.

This kit will support one class, size 20-30 students, taking 30-45 minutes to complete.
