Strategies that promote community-level climate resilience

The Nature Conservancy – With rising temperatures and changing rainfall patterns, climate change is already causing more frequent and catastrophic wildfires. Over the next 50 years more people will be exposed to wildfires with potentially disastrous consequences.
Fire is a natural and essential component of many ecosystems and when managed properly serves as an effective tool for maintaining and restoring ecological balance. But in recent decades, wildfires have become larger, more intense and more destructive due to a combination of factors, such as rapid urbanization and human-amplified climate change
The public plays a valuable role in preventing wildfires. Remember, prevention is an important part of preparation because the “safest” wildfire is one that never starts.
